I love this image - it's one of the first postcard portraits I collected and it's in really nice condition apart from a faded strip across the bottom edge which includes the handwritten caption. As far as I can tell, the caption reads The S(?) House, Mersea. The photographer is named as Austin & Son, Photographic View Publishers, Bognor.
More men, dogs and all manner of other stuff over at Sepia Saturday.

Yes, the perfect postcard for this week's prompt.
Slamy? Slamp? I don't know either. Nice bird as well.
Wow, the second blog tonight where I get first comment. This is a fabulous photo! The man and his dog (a miniature spitz?) has a real charm but the parrot makes it a special rarity. Cats are rare, but there are even less photos with caged birds. Maybe there is a cat in the tree?
Ah that's a nice match fro Brett's example!
Is it a canary or a parrot? The dog is very alert - perhaps th photographer said "bones."
Nice picture! Also because the man has been so thoughtful to not only display his dog (and himself) but also his two parrots.
Could the dog be a Pomeranian? Lovely pic of the man and his canine pal, along with his birds :-) Jo
An excellent find indeed. Much like my contribution thios week, except yours clearly taken by a professional rather than an amateur. And you have a bird in a cage - what more could you ask?
It is really fun when you know you have just the right image handy. This is a wonderful postcard.
It's a perfect match. It even has the look of the chap in the poster (come to think of it, it looks a bit like me!)
He must have been very fond of his pets.
