Landing at Dinard

My Edwardians are holidaying in France for this week's Sepia Saturday. They've landed at Dinard in Brittany where we last saw them waiting for tea after a bathe.

More boats, water and all manner of old images over at Sepia Saturday

I've always fancied this kind of departure from land while on holiday, but to be honest it's not always as idyllic or picturesque. Our journey by rickety old ferry from Mersing on the Malaysian mainland to the island of Tioman 20 years ago was an absolute nightmare.

Lots of traffic on the water that day!

Dinard always seems to have such wonderful Edwardian connotations. I suppose that today it is modern and twentieth-first century, but it always makes me think of King Edward.

Tea after bathing in the sea. It sounded so much more dignified back then. Now its swimming and throwing back a couple of beers!
