This week I'm on theme for Sepia Saturday and commentary from Wimbledon is on the radio as I write this post.
I'm unable to decipher the names written along the top and bottom edge; the side inscription reads "Winter 1894 - Tennis - Parthie".I'm not really convinced that the young lady leaning on a parasol in the centre of the photograph is up for a game of tennis!
There's more of this sort of thing over at Sepia Saturday.

That’s an interesting group. She doesn’t look as if she up for anything!
No. She definitely looks bored and wishes she was somewhere else.
Great photo.

No,no! She's just had too much Pimms.
Maybe she's a tennis groupie.
Just look at the size of her waist. Maybe the tightness of the corset has caused her to feint. Either that or perhaps she's had one to many (a couple of the others look quite merry as well).
Perhaps the young lady, and some of the others, will watch the rest of the group play tennis and cheer them on.
Ya gotta love the mustache on the man on the left!
Nice looking group - I believe the second name at the top on the left hand side is Peter.
This is why I am participating in Sepia Saturday - I get to see such lovely old photos.
Imagine playing tennis in those dresses!
Could "Frl" be short for Fraulein? The names seem European?
That is so funny! Either she has the air squeezed out of her because of what she has done to keep her belly in, or she has had a bit too much champagne. Great photo.

It is strange that the woman in the center looks like she is trying to sleep. I wonder why.
This is a wonderful 1890s photograph, I loved looking at all of them. The ladies clothing was so typical of the time and wouldn't you just love to play in those long dresses with the tight corsets? The men in their jaunty suits and hats are great and I too love the handlebar mustache on the guy on the left. Great photo!
