Following on from the Sepia Saturday post last week, we move on a year and here's my dad again, this time in his college rugby team.
Dudley Teacher Training College, 1928-29. My dad is fourth from the left on the back row. Some of the team members signed the back of the photograph but I can't put names to faces.
Yes, I have photos of my dad with his wrestling team looking very much like yours. Probably from the same era. It's really nice that you have all those signatures. Nancy
I've heard of the "Cardette" format, but not seen one, so thanks for posting this great example. I'm familiar with photographer Horace Dudley and his collection of studios in the Midlands. An interesting mascot! Like Wendy, I'm intrigued.
Love these old team photos - how great to have some of the names, too many of them have no names at all. My eyes too went first to that strange doll at the feet of the guy in the middle. Would love to know the significance.

I do believe I have some of my father looking just like that. I had completely forgotten until I saw your post.
What's the story of the dollbaby? It's gotta be good.

I have a stack of team photos from the 1950s - hockey, cricket, rugby and boxing. You have made me wonder if they deserve an outing.
Earnest young men with very neat haircuts, but what is that strange mascot?
Your dad isn't as mean looking as a lot of the other guys.
