A knitted dress
I have the perfect photograph to illustrate this week's Sepia Saturday theme; a postcard of market day in my home town of Goole. Sadly, I've already posted it.
So, on to something completely different for my entry this week. I don't know anything about this sweet little girl apart from the photographer's impressed details and a hand-written date on the reverse (Age 2, May 1922) but as a knitter, I'm very taken with her dress.

A country wedding
There's a wide-ranging theme for this week's Sepia Saturday; this photograph fits nicely into two of the categories, groups and weddings.
I have no information at all about the image, but I think it shows an interesting group of people and I'd love to know more about them. The language looks like German to me and the wedding's obviously somewhere rural. I'm particularly taken by the bride's dainty lace mittens and the bridegroom's flowers.
Lots more to see over at Sepia Saturday!

Kitchen essential
Sepia Saturday is in the kitchen this week. The image is one of the advertisements from Jackson's Handbook for Tourists in Yorkshire and Complete History of the County, published in Leeds by Richard Jackson in 1891.
I loved coal-fired kitchen ranges when I was a child. When I was five, my family moved from a 1930's town semi to a Victorian house in the country and I was delighted to find one like this in our kitchen. I remember being fascinated by all the little ovens and the shiny brass fittings including a long rail for hanging laundry to air. Mum, however, absolutely hated the range and it was ripped out and replaced with a modern tiled fireplace and an electric cooker. She always maintained that I cried when it went, but I suspect she was exaggerating....
Lots more images over at Sepia Saturday!

College rugby
Following on from the Sepia Saturday post last week, we move on a year and here's my dad again, this time in his college rugby team.
Dudley Teacher Training College, 1928-29. My dad is fourth from the left on the back row. Some of the team members signed the back of the photograph but I can't put names to faces.
