This week I have a rather tenuous link to
Sepia Saturday's garden-centred theme. There's a surprising lack of garden photographs in my collection considering that I come from a family of keen amateur gardeners. I expect they were all far too busy growing, planting and tending to bother taking pictures!
Written on the reverse: "This is Joan doing her Spring Dance in the back garden. The kiddies had been playing with the (indecipherable) - I did not know it was there until I saw this. C."

She looks like a budding ballet dancer.
Love the tripping through the garden pic. Yes, it's odd that you don't have more garden photos.
I just checked out your craft blog. Really interested since Barbara and I have been publishing craft books for the past several years. So it's fun to see your take on the biz from England. We used to sell thru a distributor called Solo. Do you know that company? Wonder if they're still around.

What were they playing with? I looked for clues but found none. Hmmmm...another mystery and an adorable photo.
A little tree fairy.
Joan seems to be having a good time. Wonder what the kids were playing with?
Great picture! Love the shadow shots too.

But Joan and her 'Spring Dance' deserve to be remembered in this way! Whoever Joan was, she portrays the innocence of childhood and the sheer joy of make - believe. I have no idea what the kiddies had been playing with; would it help to show us the original?
On another subject, Barbara and Nancy's comment piqued my curiosity. I realised that you are THE Jan Eaton. I actually am trying out your '200 Crochet Blocks' at the moment, and have used your embroidery books over the years. Happy retirement.
I wonder if Joan had dances for the other seasons too. She looks like a little sprite.
