Mum enjoying some snowy Yorkshire countryside in March 1933 while she was training to be a teacher at Bingley Training College. The college was founded in 1911 and trained over 16,000 teachers before it closed in 1979.
I wonder where the photo was actually taken. Bingley is just a few miles up the road from here but I don't recognise the cannon - although I suppose it might have been in the College grounds.I wonder what happened to the building - I must try and find out.
My first reaction when seeing this was , "What?...", but I see from the comments that I am not the first nor the only one wondering about the cannon. If it is something to be found on college grounds, there must be a reason for it. :)~ HUGZ

She looks so happy! What a nice clear picture.

It' nice to see someone enjoying the snow.
Are you sure that's not the Eastern Front?
How exciting, and she's lovely!
So what's the cannon for?
Was your Mum about to fire the canon? By the looks of it the photographer had the first shot :)

I wondered about the cannon too. I don't know Bingley at all.
A fine photograph and memory.
