Unknown soldier 1

I'm marking 100 years since the start of WW1 by posting a series of photographs of unknown British soldiers. Some, like this one, give details of the photographer and/or the photographic studio where the photograph was taken but most do not.

Portrait by Thirlwell & Co., Photographers, Stockton, Middlesboro, West Hartlepool, Newcastle, Darlington, & Bishop Auckland.

Mystery house

When I bought this photograph, I thought it just looked like a rather nice house. On closer inspection, the front door is open and there are a couple of military chaps in shot. Maybe the house was a WW2 billet?
