My dad was a keen rugby player at school and in college - that's him on the centre row, second from the left, aged 17. I have the cap he's wearing in the photograph; it's gold and navy blue velvet with an embroidered badge and huge silky tassel.

Joan in the garden
This week I have a rather tenuous link to Sepia Saturday's garden-centred theme. There's a surprising lack of garden photographs in my collection considering that I come from a family of keen amateur gardeners. I expect they were all far too busy growing, planting and tending to bother taking pictures!
Written on the reverse: "This is Joan doing her Spring Dance in the back garden. The kiddies had been playing with the (indecipherable) - I did not know it was there until I saw this. C."

Per Ardua ad Astra
Flight is this week's theme over at Sepia Saturday, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Flying Corps, the forerunner of the Royal Air Force. I posted my only RFC image some time ago so for this week I've chosen a WW2 RAF pilot complete with rather dashing cravat.
I wish I knew who he was. There's no information on the reverse of the photograph but his face does make me smile back at him.
Much more flighty stuff over at Sepia Saturday!
